Seasonal Eating

Dot Easler showcases her local produce.

Thanks to the warm South Carolina climate, Spartanburg residents can eat local, seasonal produce throughout most of the year. Whether it’s spring strawberries, summer peaches or fall turnips, we’re lucky enough to be able to enjoy seasonal eating during at least three of the four seasons.

By shopping at places like the Farmers’ Market you can learn about what’s available in Spartanburg during the different seasons or you can take a look at our Harvest Schedule to make sure you’re eating seasonally. Becoming a seasonal eater means eating more nutritiously, eating more delicious food and supporting you local farmer. You can find all the reasons to eat local and seasonal on our Why Buy Local page. And if you need help when it comes to preparing your South Carolina veggies and fruits, we’ll be providing some cooking support on our Recipes and Tips page.
