Have you met your Hub City Farmers’ Market Staff?
If you haven’t heard yet, Caroline Sexton is our new Executive Director and the newest member of our team. Caroline is an Upstate native and a Furman University graduate. Previously, she was the executive director of the Spartanburg County Historical Association. She is a graduate of Leadership Spartanburg and is active in Spartanburg Young Professionals. Caroline currently lives in Spartanburg with her husband Jacob. I am excited to see what direction Caroline will take us in 2016!
Jimmie Tate is our Farm Manager. Don’t let his humility fool you, Jimmie has a vast knowledge of the land and farming. I learn something new every time I work with him. Jimmie has a horticulture degree from Spartanburg Community College and serves on the board at SPACE (Spartanburg Area Conservancy). If you have never visited Jimmie at our farm you should! Jimmie lives in Campobello with his wife Emily.
Meg Whiteley is our new Mobile Market Associate; who came on board with us in October. Meg recently moved to Spartanburg from Connecticut, with her mother. If you see her be sure to give her a warm Spartanburg welcome. Meg is a talented photographer. You have probably already seen some of her pictures on our social media. I have enjoyed getting to know Meg.
I am the Market manager. I live in Pauline with my husband David and my 10 year old son Zachary. I also have a 22 year old step daughter, Bonnie who lives in Spartanburg. I attended Converse College where I thought I wanted to teach. I learned real fast I didn’t really. I LOVE my job with the Market. I’ve been here about a year and a half. Previously, I stayed home with my children. In the past I’ve worked with food and in catering.
Last but not least, are our countless volunteers, most notably Caitlyn Myer (not pictured). Caitlyn is our Bonner Scholar from Wofford College. She is from North Carolina and lives in the dorms at Wofford. You can find Caitlyn working the HCFM booth every Market day. I couldn’t do my job with out her! Our incredible team of volunteers are one of our most valuable resources, we owe them more than words can express. Thank you to each and every one of them!
I look forward to establishing new relationships in the HCFM community in 2016 and cultivating the old ones! Happy new year and many blessing for 2016!
